A SALUTE TO THE KING - A Poem of Thanks

Photobucket

A SALUTE TO THE KING

Thank you Dr. King
for the prior and the latter Freedom you bring
Thank you Sir, earnestly, for everything

Thank you for walking fully into your purpose
Relinquishing all your earthly gems
Advocating for us, the good and the bad
past the understanding of mere men
Proving that despite the tremble of carnal flesh
the spirit within was fearless, tried and true
Proving with your actions that you loved us
even more than we’ve grown to adore you

Sir, I can only control me, same as my brethren,
So by example, I will not let your path paved for me be in vain
I’m making the most of your dream, your blood, your sweat, your tears
for your vision of me was much more than a mammy maid
Though the fight for equality has remained consistent and at times - inhumane
Were making strides towards U.S. presidency
business conglomeracy, and listed with other top millionaire names

You are a King past the surname
You are a courageous symbol to the oppressed soul
I am eternally grateful to you
your family, and your staff
for collectively raising us all to the next plateau

Thank you Dr. King
for the prior and the latter Freedom you bring;
Thank you Sir, earnestly, for everything!

QUOTES BY DR. KING:
Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can't ride you unless your back is bent.

If we are to go forward, we must go back and rediscover those precious values - that all reality hinges on moral foundations and that all reality has spiritual control.

Almost always, the creative dedicated minority has made the world better.

A nation or civilization that continues to produce soft-minded men purchases its own spiritual death on the installment plan.

A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.

If physical death is the price that I must pay to free my white brothers and sisters from a permanent death of the spirit, then nothing can be more redemptive.

A man who won't die for something is not fit to live.

Whatever your life's work is, do it well. A man should do his job so well that the living, the dead, and the unborn could do it no better.
